When we go to the shop or the market, we always pick the shiny and perfect fruits and veggies. However, there are also less ideal ones that are often left behind; nobody wants to buy them, and in the end, they are disposed of in the garbage simply because they are a little crooked, blemished, bent, too small, less colourful, too big, oddly shaped, or not as shiny as the others. But for me, those oddballs are more beautiful than the rest, as they stand out from the crowd in an interesting way. I got the idea for the series from a tiny crooked red pepper, which was really the last one standing in a basket once full of peppers. It looked angry because it was left alone, furious that nobody wanted to buy it, so I decided that it will go home with me and be the first “star” of my new series. “Peculiaris” is all about the peculiar and odd ones, the ones that stand out from the crowd but still nobody wants… not until now.
